Toy Drive for Children

About The Toy Drive

The Toy Drive For Children collects new, unwrapped toys for children. Our particular thrust is at Christmas time when we place drop boxes at participating businesses. We distribute toys to hospitals, clinics and youth agencies. We particularly find underserved children whom without us, Santa would have a very hard time finding. We are a one hundred percent volunteer organization that started in 1983 serving babies with AIDS at County USC Hospital's 5p21 AIDS ward. We have greatly expanded through these 29 years. Now we have expanded beyond HIV to include many schools in disadvantaged areas, many youth agencies and make a particular appeal for the support of homeless youth. Now we partner with many AIDS agencies, hospitals, clinics and youth service agencies. We operate youth empowerment and fund raising programs twelve months of the year and support major HIV hospitals programs like: County USC Maternal, child and Adolescent Center, SPECTRUM at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. We are currently furnishing over 600 toys per week, every week of the year, to our hospital programs.

The Rescuing Hug

This is a picture from an article called "The Rescuing Hug". The article details the first week of life of a set of twins. Apparaently, each were in their respective incubators, and one was not expected to live. A hospital nurse fought against the hospital rules and placed the babies in one incubator. When they were placed together, the healthier of the two threw n arm over her sister in an endearing embrace. The smaller baby's heart rate stabilized and her temperature rose to normal.

Let us not forget to embrace those whom we love.
